Change to Blue Change to Green Change to Purple Change to Ochre

The Purge Begins...

So as you may have noticed, I’ve finally found the time to start making some changes to MJRyder.net. The main one as far as I’m concerned is the change of structure ‘behind the scenes’ as it were. From a reader’s perspective this means I’ve now set up a system which means all my updates (including reviews written on other websites) are all compiled together both on the main page, and in my new dynamic portfolio page. It still needs a lot of work mind, but it’s getting there, and I have to say I’m far happier now I’ve made the necessary alterations.

In terms of other changes you will no doubt have notices the change to the menu navigation bar. After much thought on the subject I’ve decided to go back to my old style of ‘blogging about things that interest me’. While the writing-only blog was useful (and helped me get a good grade in my publishing module at uni), in terms of general interest, it’s only really good for people who know me, or who are interested in how my life as a writer unfolds. As such I’ve created a (hidden) blog page, with the return of tagged blogging which I will add to the menu bar when I have some content ready there, while still keeping the journal you see before you now.

Naturally I’m not making these changes just for the sake of making changes. This next week sees my final week working as a full-time Content Writer for ChangYou.com as I move to working as a full-time freelancer, still working for ChangYou, but with the time and opportunity to take on other projects in the hope of enhancing my portfolio and my experience. I’ve certainly enjoyed my time at ChangYou, and feel I’ve achieved a lot in my 7 months there, but with life such as it is at the moment, the opportunity to continue as a freelancer gives me the chance to take on new challenges while being nearer my family and out of my current residence in Northfields.

More updates as and when I have them!

The News Purge

With the complete re-jig of my website I have decided I no longer need the front page news section which was becoming increasingly redundant, serving only as a place to link to my work across the internet. With my newly upgraded dynamic front page I am now much better placed to advertise my recent work without the hassle of having to make separate posts in separate places. On the down side this means I am soon to purge my news archive of all my (now obsolete) news posts. I am however keeping this one page, my very first news page, in fond memory of my early days working on this website. Was it really November 2008? How time flies!
