The count is in...
Right so it's the end of the year and I thought I'd check my reading list to see just how many books I've read this year. The answer is...
SIXTY
Ok, so a few of those were Roald Dahl books, and I'm currently reading the sixtieth which should easily be done before the end of the year, but I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with my achievement this year.
Highlights of the year include The Buddha of Suburbia, Carter Beats the Devil (alot better than the Prestige!), Ravensoul, The Island of Dr Moreau and Slaughterhouse 5.
Lowlights include both Darwin and Freud (possibly two of the hardest books I've read in terms of plain mind-numbing dullness), Slash, The Catcher in the Rye (sorry Tom!) and Confessions of an English Opium Eater.
For those of you who are interested, the list is as follows:
- The Invisible Man
- Halo: Contact Harvest
- The Time Machine
- The Interpretation of Dreams (Freud - ARGH!!!)
- The Origin of Speicies
- James and the Giant Peach
- Things Fall Apart
- No Longer at ease (abridged)
- Three Bags Full

Here's hoping 2010 is just as good for reading as 2009 :)
[EDIT: Since uploading this blog I've also read Giantslayer by William King. Better make that 61 books for the year...]
[EDIT 2: Better add to that list Orcslayer and Manslayer, both by Nathan Long. The final count for 2009 is 63. That will teach me for writing this blog before Christmas :p]
