Music that makes me happy

Very few things in this world make me genuinely happy, but this morning I thought I'd post one of them: 'Summer Song' by Joe Satriani. Without doubt this man is the greatest guitar player of all time. Fact. For those of you who don't know who the great man is, here is a fine example (note the song doesn't actually start until a minute in - the first bit is a musical interlude between songs):

In other news, writing is coming on remarkably well. I'm now up to 21,000 words of my new novel, and am slowly but surely making progress. Moving house hasn't really helped with the whole 'creative process' of late, but I'm getting there slowly I think. Thing is, I've now caught up to where I am in the hand-written version of the manuscript, so there might be a bit of a gap between the 21,000 words I have typed thus far, and the next big jump I make in terms of the electronic version. Still a very long way to go as well. I'm only just about maybe 1/5 into the book if that.

In terms of my self-publication project, good news is that things are coming along nicely. Hope to receive a finalised copy of the cover illustration from my cover illustrator David Lawrence within the next week or so and then it's just a matter of sending that off to the publishers/printers with final cover instructions etc. Fingers crossed I might have a few preview copies ready for early August time. Still hope to meet my estimation for a proper launch in October. Now to get working on my marketing plan...

Top 10 greatest guitarists?

I recently came across an article in Time Magazine detailing who they consider to be the 'Top 10' guitarists of all time. I find myself reading it with no small amount of bewilderment. Where is Steve Vai I ask myself? Where is Brian May? Where is Dimebag Darrell? Where is Carlos Santana? WHERE, I ask myself, is JOE SATRIANI?! This, I'm afraid, is what happens when journalists write in areas they know nothing about. They're really just making themselves look very silly...
